TurfCaddie Privacy Policy

TurfCaddie ("we," "us") makes an app for golf course superintendents that provides AI turf diagnosis, soil-moisture tracking, weather insight, and record-keeping. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.

Information you provide

Account — your email address and name when you create an account (or the identifier returned by Sign in with Apple or Google if you use those).
Course profile — course name, the grasses you manage, region, course type, and experience details you enter.
Location — a GPS coordinate or an address you provide, used only to fetch accurate local weather and soil data. Location is optional; you can type conditions in by hand instead.
Your content — turf photos, diagnoses, spray/fertility/cultural logs, scouting notes, soil-moisture readings, green thresholds, and any posts, captions, or comments you create.

Information collected automatically

Device & push token — if you enable notifications, we store a push token so we can send alerts.
Usage & diagnostics — basic technical data needed to operate the app (e.g., error logs). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

How we use your information

To provide the core features: AI diagnosis and chat, soil-moisture intelligence, weather and forecast, logging, scouting, reports, and community.
To tailor guidance to your course (your grasses, location, conditions), including improving future diagnoses on your own account from cases you confirm or correct.
To send the alerts and reminders you enable.
To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

Service providers we share data with

We share only what each provider needs to perform its function. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

Photos and AI processing

When you request a diagnosis, the photo (or description) and relevant course context are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate the result. Photos are used to produce your diagnosis and are stored in your account so you can revisit them. You control your own photos and can delete them.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account, which removes your profile and associated content from our systems. You may also request deletion by emailing us. Some records may persist briefly in backups before being overwritten.

Your choices

Location is optional and can be turned off in your device settings; you can enter conditions manually.
Notifications are opt-in and can be disabled anytime.
You can edit your profile and delete your content or entire account from within the app.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated access, and row-level security so each account can only reach its own data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

TurfCaddie is a professional tool intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Payments

During our beta, TurfCaddie is provided free and we collect no payment information. If we introduce paid plans, any purchases will be handled through the applicable app-store billing, and we will update this policy accordingly.

International users

Our providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries. By using TurfCaddie you consent to this processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
